UD currently offers 60 doctoral and 145 master’s degree programs. Of these programs 16 are dual degrees, 14 interdisciplinary and 20 on-line. Other options include an avenue to complete a traditional four-year bachelor’s program plus a master’s program in one addition year, known as a 4+1 degree (26 are currently available) and 35 certificate programs across our seven colleges and more than 82 research centers and institutes. UD is one of the top 100 institutions for federal obligations in science and engineering and interdisciplinary initiatives in energy science and policy, the environment and in human health.

Accounting MS, MS/MBA, 4+1

The objective of the MS in Accounting program is to extend the education of qualified students into advanced study in each of the major areas of the field of accounting (financial, managerial, information systems, auditing, and taxation), as well as in the supporting fields of finance and quantitative methods.

Applicants can be considered for admission directly into the MS in Accounting Program or conditionally via ELI-CAP (English Language Institute). Current UD undergraduate students can be considered for admission to the Accelerated BS/MS in Accounting. A dual degree in the MBA & MS in Accounting programs is available to graduate students.

Accounting Practice MS

The Masters of Accounting Practice is designed for those individuals who did not major in accounting as an undergraduate but who want to pursue the professional practice of accountancy through graduate study and prepare to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination.

Animal and Food Science PhD, MS

In Animal Science, research programs are offered in physiology; ruminant and poultry nutrition; microbiology, immunology and pathology; molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics.

In Food Science, research programs are offered in food biochemistry, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, toxicology and processing.

The demand for professionals who understand and can make decisions about Big Data has never been greater. Business analytics experts ensure that decisions and actions are data driven and inform the future of business in real-time.The Graduate Certificate program in business analytics at the Alfred Lerner College ofBusiness and Economics allows working professionals to gain advanced knowledge and skills in the field of business analytics. Students take the same courses offered in the Lerner MBA and become proficient in the tools that leverage data to make decisions, generate insights, optimize outcomes and predict future results.

Economic Education PhD

Jointly offered by the School of Education and the Economics Department, the program trains economic education scholars and leaders who develop and evaluate economic and financial literacy programs and curricula in the K-12 school system, universities and a wide variety of outreach programs.

Fashion and Apparel Studies MS, 4+1, CERT

An international focus and emphasis on understanding design, theory, and research as they relate to fashion phenomena.

Current UD undergraduate students can be considered for admission to the 4+1 BS in Fashion Merchandising/MS in Fashion and Apparel Studies. A Certificate in Socially Responsible and Sustainable Apparel Business is also offered.

Finance MS, MBA/MS, BS/MS, 4+1

The MS in Finance program provides instruction in the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be innovative, well-informed, and experienced finance professionals.

A dual degree in the MBA & MS in Finance programs is available to graduate students.

Applicants can also be considered for admission conditionally via ELI-CAP (English Language Institute).

The Finance Program also offers a 4+1 program that provides the opportunity for talented students to complete a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Finance in less time, less cost as 6 credits of graduate-level Finance courses in the Senior year may be dual-counted toward both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Total credits required for both degrees is 145 (rather than 151).

Finance Certificate CERT

The graduate certificate program in finance at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics allows working professionals like you to go beyond the numbers and master the concepts and methods that practicing financial professionals use to maximize the value of their firms.

You’ll take the same courses offered in the Lerner MBA and learn how to understand and conduct cash flow valuation and capital budgeting; portfolio management; and financing with debt, equity and hybrids. The AACSB accredited MBA offers Majors in Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare Management and Strategic Leadership and Concentrations in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Health Care Administration, Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management, Information Technology, International Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation, Museum Management, Marketing, Sport Management and Strategic Leadership.

Current UD undergraduate students in all Engineering Majors and BS in Hotel Restaurant Management, or BA in Music Management programs can be considered for admission to the 4+1 MBA program.

Dual degrees in the following programs are available to graduate students: MBA & MS in Accounting; MBA & MS in Finance; MBA & MS in Information Systems & Technology Management; MBA & MS in International Business. MBA & Hospitality Business Management, MBA & PhD Biological Science. A joint MD/MBA is available to medical students at Thomas Jefferson University.

MBA Pathways Program
ADMITTANCE STATUS: This program is not taking applicants at this time.

The Pathways Program offers the opportunity for business professionals to take up to three MBA or other UD business graduate degree courses before officially pursuing an MBA degree. This option is a good choice if you have not yet had an opportunity to take the GMAT or if you want to try out some courses to see if a UD business graduate degree is appropriate for you. Applicants must meet all admission requirements for the MBA program EXCEPT submitting a GMAT score.

Minerals, Materials and Society CERT

The graduate certificate in Minerals, Materials and Society is designed for mid-career professionals in industry, government and civil society working across mineral and extractive supply chains. The Masters of Public Policy (MPP) degree is the professional degree for analyzing, evaluating, and solving all aspects of policy. As analysts and managers, MPP graduates work with quantitative and qualitative data to develop, assess, and evaluate alternative approaches to current and emerging issues.

Socially Responsible & Sustainable Apparel Business Online CERT

The graduate certificate provides a foundation of knowledge needed to manage design, product development, buying, promotion, sourcing, and production of apparel, textiles, and footwear in ways that are socially responsible and sustainable. The competencies and skills embedded in the courses are based on research with industry leaders and professionals who lead nongovernmental organizations and civil society groups with a stake in the global apparel business. The coursework is grounded on principles of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, a voluntary international initiative bringing together companies, labor and civil society groups, and various UN agencies in support of human rights, labor, and the environment. The following learning goals have been established for students completing the certificate: 1) Evaluate how apparel, textile, and footwear businesses address the “Global Compact” principles for human rights, labor standards, and environmental stewardship and how they can more effectively address them in the future, 2) Analyze the moral and ethical responsibility of business and individuals toward human rights labor standards, and environmental stewardship, and 3) Recommend various strategies for affecting change in the industries.

Traditional Degrees

There are major categories of degrees available for Graduate level studies at the University of Delaware that include master’s and doctoral degrees. Earning one of these degrees can take 2-8 years, depending on the level of the degree and field of study.

Dual Degrees

The University of Delaware offers students the opportunity to simultaneously complete more than one graduate level degree. Important features include:

The program guidelines for dual degree programs identify the number of credits required for the combined degree. However, the general standard is that completing a combined program results in fewer number of credits required than if each degree was completed as a separate degree.

To be eligible for a dual degree, both degrees must be awarded simultaneously as the total number of credits required is based on the program guidelines for the dual degree.

4+1 Degrees

Undergraduate UD students have the opportunity to complete a traditional four-year bachelor’s program plus a master’s program in one additional (+1) year.

Application deadlines are based on the current year/level of the UD student as they must apply no later than their Junior year (allowing for overlap of graduate and undergraduate coursework during their senior year).

Partnerships

The University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University offer a reciprocal graduate enrollment program. Full-time graduate students at each institution can attend classes at the partner school at no cost.
