UD currently offers 60 doctoral and 145 master’s degree programs. Of these programs 16 are dual degrees, 14 interdisciplinary and 20 on-line. Other options include an avenue to complete a traditional four-year bachelor’s program plus a master’s program in one addition year, known as a 4+1 degree (25 are currently available) and 35 certificate programs across our seven colleges and more than 82 research centers and institutes. UD is one of the top 100 institutions for federal obligations in science and engineering and interdisciplinary initiatives in energy science and policy, the environment and in human health.

Epidemiology PhD

The PhD in Epidemiology provides students with advanced training in epidemiological methods and prepares them for careers in research, teaching, and applied public health. The program is designed to support students with some experience in public health who seek additional training related to research methods and their application to population health. Sample areas of focus include cancer, cardiovascular disease, and injury epidemiology, among others. Areas of focus are driven by faculty research interests and admission to the PhD program requires matching an applicant’s research interests with a faculty member. All students receive research and/or teaching assistantships.

Exceptional Children & Youth MEd, 4+1

A program for career professionals who work with children, youth, and adults with disabilities. Graduates are prepared to work as special education teachers, education consultants, and educational technology specialists.

The traditional Master’s Program track is appropriate for teachers with a teaching certificate in either general or special education who wish to develop advanced knowledge and skills. The degree track also may be suitable for individuals who are not teachers but have other experience in the disabilities field and wish to pursue an advanced degree only. For previously certified teachers, the traditional degree track also may be a path to a second certificate in special education.

The Master’s Plus Certification Program (MPCP) is appropriate for individuals who seek to acquire advanced knowledge and skills while also obtaining their first teaching certificate.

Current UD undergraduate students can be considered for admission to the 4+1 BS in Early Childhood Education/MEd in Exceptional Children and Youth, the 4+1 BS in Elementary Teacher Education/MEd in Exceptional Children and Youth, or the 4+1 BS in a secondary education major/MEd in Exceptional Children and Youth.

The Online Master’s Program is appropriate for teachers with a teaching certificate in either general or special education who wish to develop advanced knowledge and skills.

An international focus and emphasis on understanding design, theory, and research as they relate to fashion phenomena.

Finance MS, MBA/MS, BS/MS, 4+1

The MS in Finance program provides instruction in the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be innovative, well-informed, and experienced finance professionals.

A dual degree in the MBA & MS in Finance programs is available to graduate students.

Applicants can also be considered for admission conditionally via ELI-CAP (English Language Institute).

The Finance Program also offers a 4+1 program that provides the opportunity for talented students to complete a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Finance in less time, less cost as 6 credits of graduate-level Finance courses in the Senior year may be dual-counted toward both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Total credits required for both degrees is 145 (rather than 151).

Finance Certificate CERT

The graduate certificate program in finance at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics allows working professionals like you to go beyond the numbers and master the concepts and methods that practicing financial professionals use to maximize the value of their firms.

You’ll take the same courses offered in the Lerner MBA and learn how to understand and conduct cash flow valuation and capital budgeting; portfolio management; and financing with debt, equity and hybrids. You’ll learn how to apply financial modeling tools to value various assets and transactions including IPOs, mergers, private equity transactions, leveraged buyouts and others.

Health Systems Leadership MSN

The purpose of this program is to prepare nurses to lead health system changes across a continuum of tertiary, primary, and community-based settings. Leadership in Early Childhood and Human Services CERT

The Graduate Certificate Program in Leadership in Early Childhood and Human Services will prepare professionals to take leadership roles in Early Childhood and/or Human Services programs. Course options are built into the program to allow students to match their previous education, work experience and career goals while meeting all learning objectives in this Graduate Certificate Program. Students will select one course from each of four categories: Program Administration, Working with Families, Diversity across the Lifespan, and Curriculum. All students will take the required course in Staff Development. All courses in this program emphasize developmentally and culturally responsive, inclusive, and evidence-based practices in work with young children, youth, and families and the professionals who serve them.

Applicants to this Graduate Certificate Program must have successfully completed a BS or BA in a field related to the applicant’s area of interest. In addition, applicants must provide a statement of interest, career objectives and prior related experience.

College transcripts will be evaluated for indicators of future academic success and written statements assessed for compatibility of interests and goals with program goals.

Liberal Studies MA

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree offers interdisciplinary graduate study centered in the humanities and social sciences. Within the broad parameters of the program, students shape their course of study to suit their intellectual interests and follow their passions. The AACSB accredited MBA offers Majors in Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Healthcare Management and Strategic Leadership and Concentrations in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Health Care Administration, Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management, Information Technology, International Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation, Museum Management, Marketing, Sport Management and Strategic Leadership.

Current UD undergraduate students in all Engineering Majors and BS in Hotel Restaurant Management, or BA in Music Management programs can be considered for admission to the 4+1 MBA program.

Dual degrees in the following programs are available to graduate students: MBA & MS in Accounting; MBA & MS in Finance; MBA & MS in Information Systems & Technology Management; MBA & MS in International Business. Traditional Degrees

There are major categories of degrees available for Graduate level studies at the University of Delaware that include master’s and doctoral degrees. Earning one of these degrees can take 2-8 years, depending on the level of the degree and field of study.

Dual Degrees

The University of Delaware offers students the opportunity to simultaneously complete more than one graduate level degree. Important features include:

The program guidelines for dual degree programs identify the number of credits required for the combined degree. However, the general standard is that completing a combined program results in fewer number of credits required than if each degree was completed as a separate degree.

To be eligible for a dual degree, both degrees must be awarded simultaneously as the total number of credits required is based on the program guidelines for the dual degree.

4+1 Degrees

Undergraduate UD students have the opportunity to complete a traditional four-year bachelor’s program plus a master’s program in one additional (+1) year.

Application deadlines are based on the current year/level of the UD student as they must apply no later than their Junior year (allowing for overlap of graduate and undergraduate coursework during their senior year).

University of Delaware offers practical, concentrated study in a specific professional area to help you change careers, explore a new field, gain credentials, and acquire practical new skills and knowledge.

 

Partnerships

The University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University offer a reciprocal graduate enrollment program. Full-time graduate students at each institution can attend classes at the partner school at no cost.

Full-time matriculated graduate students at the University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University are eligible for this program.A completed permission form for reciprocal registration between University of Delaware and Thomas Jefferson University must be submitted to the coordinator at your home institution:
